Trogir is 27 km west of Split, and many visitors staying there assume the Blue Lagoon is a complicated trip — it's not. Here's a quick guide for Trogir-based travellers who want to reach the Krknjaši Blue Lagoon without renting a car or getting lost in logistics.

The boat at Stobreč Harbor — 35 km from Trogir, the most popular departure point for Blue Lagoon tours.

Geography in plain terms

Trogir is on the mainland coast 27 km west of Split. The Blue Lagoon (Krknjaši) is in the open Adriatic 12 nautical miles south-west of Split. From Trogir, the Lagoon is about 20 nautical miles south-south-east by sea — slightly closer than from Split as the crow flies, but no scheduled tours depart from Trogir's port directly. To reach the Lagoon you'll combine a short land transfer with a boat tour from one of the Split-area departure points.

Three ways to get there from Trogir

1. Transfer + Stobreč Harbor (recommended)

Stobreč is the main departure point for traditional wooden boat tours to the Blue Lagoon. From Trogir to Stobreč is 35 km (40–50 minutes driving) via the D8 coastal road or the A1 highway.

  • Taxi/Uber/Bolt: €40–55 one-way, easiest if you don't have a car
  • Hire car: 35 minutes, free parking at Stobreč Harbor
  • Bus: not direct — requires a transfer in Split, total 90+ minutes

Most Trogir-based guests arrive by taxi the morning of the tour. Allow at least 60 minutes for the transfer to be safe.

2. Transfer + Split Port (Riva)

If you'd rather board in the centre of Split (Riva promenade), Trogir is 27 km / 30–40 minutes away.

  • Bus 37: direct Promet Split route between Trogir and Split, runs every 20 minutes, €4 one-way, 45–60 minutes total
  • Taxi/Uber/Bolt: €30–45 one-way

Split Port boarding is at 09:45, so depart Trogir by 09:00 on the bus or 09:15 by taxi.

3. Trogir-based boat tour (smaller market)

A handful of smaller operators run Blue Lagoon trips directly from Trogir's harbor. These are usually speedboats (less comfortable, faster) and require less land transfer. Expect to pay €100–130/person, which includes the convenience of skipping the Split transit.

Trade-off: smaller boats, fewer departure options, and you skip Nečujam Bay (most Trogir-departing tours focus on Blue Lagoon + Maslinica on the west side of Šolta).

Practical Trogir-specific tips

  • Don't drive to Split city centre. Parking around the Riva costs €3–5/hour and fills early. Stobreč has free spots.
  • Bus 37 runs to/from Trogir's main bus station (not the old town directly). Allow a 10-minute walk inside Trogir.
  • Book taxis the night before in peak season — morning availability gets tight in July/August.
  • Confirm your tour's pickup location. "Blue Lagoon tour from Split" listings sometimes board in Stobreč, sometimes in Split Port — clarify before you commit to a transfer route.

The simplest Trogir → Blue Lagoon plan

  1. Book a Stobreč-departing tour (like ours) for a 09:00 boarding
  2. Order a taxi for 08:00 from Trogir to Stobreč Harbor (40 min drive + buffer)
  3. Arrive at 08:45, board at 09:00, return by 17:00–18:00
  4. Taxi back to Trogir (or stay in Stobreč/Split for dinner before returning)
